ARCHERY & AMMUNITION

How do I build arrows, choose arrowheads and merge stacks?

Read an arrow as a finished assembly of stalk, arrowhead and fletchings, then compare the completed result before deciding whether two stacks should combine.

QUICK ANSWER

Choose the finished arrow for its arrowhead and material result; stacks merge only when the arrows are the same finished item and configuration.

Crude, Bodkin and Crescent arrows share the same basic idea but use different arrowheads. Their item pages show the assembled parts and resulting damage. Demo 1.0.9 included an arrow-merging fix, so update first; if two stacks still stay apart, compare the finished arrows instead of looking only at the word ‘arrow’.

01

WHAT TO DO

Read the three parts of the finished arrow

A finished arrow combines the stalk, an arrowhead and fletchings. Crude Arrow uses Stalk, Barbed Arrow Head and Goose Fletchings. Bodkin Arrow replaces the head with Bodkin Arrow Head, while Crescent Arrow uses Crescent Arrow Head. Open the finished item page to see the assembly together; searching only for the loose arrowhead does not show the complete ammunition you will carry.

The arrowhead is the part to compare first when deciding the job of the ammunition. After selecting a head, check the finished result and material rather than assuming that every head improves the same damage number. Keep one known configuration long enough to learn how it performs before filling the quiver with several small variations that are difficult to identify during a fight.

  • Open the finished arrow, not only the loose head.
  • Compare stalk, head and fletchings together.
  • Keep the first test batch consistent.
02

WHAT TO DO

Judge the completed arrow by its own result

The current pages list base damage of 16.5 for Crude Arrow and Bodkin Arrow, while Crescent Arrow lists 11 before other parts and material choices are considered. A more specialised name is therefore not a promise of a larger base number. Open each completed arrow and compare the damage properties that actually appear on that result.

Material effects on arrows do not follow every rule used by melee weapons. In particular, an arrow does not automatically inherit the random burning, electrical or healing effects described for melee material hits, and silver arrows should not be expected to gain the melee anti-revival effect. Choose an arrow from the properties shown on the finished arrow page, not from an effect remembered from a sword or axe.

03

WHAT TO DO

Compare every difference before calling a stack broken

First confirm that the game is on Demo 1.0.9 or later, because that update included an arrow-merging fix. Then compare the finished item name, arrowhead, material, fletchings and any visible quality or colour. Two objects can both look like ordinary arrows in the inventory while one fitted component makes them different finished items, so keeping separate stacks can be correct.

If every visible part matches and the stacks still refuse to merge, move both stacks through an empty inventory area or quiver slot and try again after reopening the inventory. Do not discard the arrows just to clear the slot. Note the exact two item names and configuration first; that information separates a remaining game issue from a legitimate equipment difference.

04

WHAT TO DO

Use the quiver and weight budget together

The Quiver occupies a 2×3 shape and has six cells, with a listed weight of 1.5 before considering the arrows placed with it. It is useful when archery is a real part of the loadout, but it is not free space. Compare the room and weight devoted to ammunition with the healing, light and loot space needed for the same route.

Carry one main stack and only a small second type when you know why it is needed. A large supply of three different arrowheads can weigh down a short learning run and create several half-used stacks. For the first test, take enough identical arrows to observe accuracy, damage and consumption, then use the result to decide whether the next expedition needs a different head or a larger reserve.

BEFORE THE NEXT RUN

Check these four things before you leave

  1. Compare the finished arrow and all fitted parts.
  2. Choose from the displayed damage result.
  3. Update to Demo 1.0.9 before troubleshooting merging.
  4. Carry one main stack with a clear purpose.

One last check before you leave

Check inventory counts, remaining durability, learned recipes, quest progress, random spawns and whether the intended route is open. Doing this before spending materials or setting off can save a wasted trip.
