PRIVACY
Privacy and actual site behaviour
This notice describes Cloudflare Web Analytics, the prepared or active GA4 usage measurement boundary, and the local feature data that is not sent.
Last updated:Accounts
This first version has no user accounts, sign-in, profile, upload, or cloud-sync feature.
Cookies and local settings
Saved outfits and map preferences may be kept in this browser's localStorage; they are not submitted to this site. Clearing this site's browser data removes them. Outfit links are copied and shared only when you choose to do so. Cloudflare documents that Web Analytics does not use cookies or localStorage for usage metrics. Google Analytics 4 may set first-party analytics cookies on the production apex to distinguish a browser or device for basic measurement; analytics loads by default without a consent pop-up.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
The production site uses the free Cloudflare Web Analytics service to understand aggregate traffic and performance. Its standard metrics and dimensions include visits, page views, page paths, referring hosts, country or region, device type, browser, operating system, page-load timing, and Core Web Vitals. Cloudflare is the third-party service provider for this feature.
Google Analytics 4
The exact production apex expeditionintodarknessdb.com also uses Google Analytics 4 for page views and the limited usage events listed below. The Google tag loads by default, without a consent pop-up, only on that HTTPS apex. It does not load on pages.dev deployments or local previews. Google is the third-party service provider for this feature.
GA4 data boundaries
The site manually measures page_view, assistant_download, view_search_results, search_no_results, search_result_click and map_point_click. Search events record a normalized search term (up to 80 characters), the number of displayed results (up to 30), search placement, page language, and the selected public result path and position. Searches are recorded after typing pauses or a result is selected, not on every keystroke. Obvious email addresses, URLs, long numbers and overly long input are replaced with [redacted]; automated screening cannot identify every kind of personal text, so please do not enter personal information into search. Map events record the map name, public point ID and type, 2D/3D view and page language when a point is selected; opening a shared link does not count as a click. Download events contain the public file name, assistant version and page language; they measure clicks, not download completion or program use. Page and referrer URLs exclude query strings and fragments. The Google tag may also generate first_visit, session_start and user_engagement; engagement_time_msec measures foreground or focused time. Enhanced Measurement remains disabled. Filter choices, outfits, planner inputs, found-point lists and map coordinates are not sent. Advertising storage, Google signals and ad-personalisation signals are disabled; no User-ID is configured.
Cloudflare tracking boundaries
Cloudflare documents that Web Analytics does not use cookies or localStorage for usage metrics, does not fingerprint visitors using IP addresses, user agents, or other attributes, and does not track individuals across its customers' sites. Cloudflare Web Analytics can operate alongside this limited GA4 baseline measurement.
Network and local feature data
On the production apex, Cloudflare automatically injects its asynchronous beacon from static.cloudflareinsights.com and reports measurements to the same-origin /cdn-cgi/rum endpoint. The GA4 integration loads gtag.js from www.googletagmanager.com and sends the limited manual events described above plus GA4's baseline automatic events to Google Analytics collection endpoints. Saved outfits, found-point lists and planner inputs are not uploaded; searches and point selections are measured only as described above.
Advertising and consent
The site currently does not load AdSense ad units or make advertising requests. The AdSense account meta tag and ads.txt entry only verify the site's publisher relationship; they do not display ads. Before advertising is enabled, we will publish a Google-certified consent management platform for visitors in the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, explain how Google and its advertising partners use cookies or device identifiers, and provide a way to accept, reject, or manage those choices.
Audience, children, and location
This is a general-audience guide for a dark-fantasy PC game; it is not directed specifically at children and does not create child profiles. The site does not request browser or device geolocation. Coordinates and markers shown on interactive maps describe places inside the game, not a visitor's real-world location.
Future changes
If accounts, advertising, cloud storage, or another external service is considered later, this notice will be updated before that feature is enabled and will identify the actual service and purpose.
