HEALING & PREPARATION

How do I restock healing supplies before an expedition?

Start with the bandage recipe you can already make, then use the item pages to see which ingredients, facility and tool are needed for stronger supplies.

QUICK ANSWER

Make basic Bandages at the Workbench from Linen Rags, or at the Alchemy Alcove from Hemp, Cotton or Wool Rags; plan advanced supplies only after their facility and ingredients are ready.

Bandages and Poultice Bandages are compact 1×1 items weighing 0.2. Hemocathar is also 1×1 but uses the Chemistarium and an Alembic. The database can help you assemble each recipe; the current in-game item description and your remaining health decide which supply to use during the expedition.

01

WHAT TO DO

Use the simplest bandage recipe you can repeat

The Workbench recipe makes Bandages from six Linen Rags and is available by default. The Alchemy Alcove offers alternative default recipes using four Hemp Rags, four Cotton Rags or four Wool Rags. These are separate methods for the same output, so choose the rag type you already have instead of waiting for one specific material while the others fill the stash.

Open the Bandages page and choose the recipe that matches the facility currently available in camp. Count complete batches, not just the total number of rags. If you have five Linen Rags, that is still short of the Workbench recipe; if you have four Cotton Rags and the Alchemy Alcove, the alternative recipe may already be ready.

  • Choose one available facility.
  • Pick the rag recipe you can complete now.
  • Craft in complete batches.
02

WHAT TO DO

Upgrade only when the full recipe is worth the trip

Poultice Bandages require the Alchemy Alcove, four Matricaria Chamomilla, two Bloodwood Sap, one Bandages and four Honey Extract. The ordinary bandage is therefore not replaced by the advanced recipe; it becomes one of its ingredients. Keep one batch for immediate use before converting every basic bandage in the stash.

Turn missing ingredients into one collection list. If the recipe lacks both Chamomilla and Honey Extract, write those as the purpose of the next expedition rather than carrying unrelated valuables home. When only one ingredient remains missing, compare its item sources and reserve enough inventory space for the quantity the recipe actually needs.

03

WHAT TO DO

Do not plan potions before the station and tool are ready

Hemocathar uses the Chemistarium and requires an Alembic. Its listed recipe combines Bloodwood Sap, Distilled Spirits, a Glass Vial and Honey Extract, and it is not unlocked by default. Finding some of those ingredients does not mean the potion can be produced immediately; the facility, tool, unlock and every required quantity must all be ready together.

Use separate stash groups for supplies you can use now and ingredients reserved for later recipes. This prevents a future potion ingredient from occupying the place of the bandage needed for the next run. When the Chemistarium becomes available, open the exact potion page again and follow that recipe rather than assuming every Hemocathar or Vita Salis version uses the same ingredients.

04

WHAT TO DO

Pack a retreat plan, not every medical item

Decide how many healing slots the route deserves after accounting for the weapon, light source, quest item and intended loot. A compact 1×1 supply is easy to place, but several small items still consume the space reserved for the expedition goal. Pack for the likely fights and keep a small return margin rather than carrying the entire camp stock.

Set a simple trigger before entering: after the reserve item is used, after the main injury supply falls to one, or when the route ahead is longer than the known route home. The exact choice depends on the character and equipment, but making it early turns healing into part of the retreat plan instead of permission to push until nothing remains.

BEFORE THE NEXT RUN

Check these four things before you leave

  1. Choose a bandage recipe your camp can make now.
  2. Count complete ingredient batches.
  3. Keep advanced-recipe materials separate from ready supplies.
  4. Keep one healing reserve for the return route.

One last check before you leave

Check inventory counts, remaining durability, learned recipes, quest progress, random spawns and whether the intended route is open. Doing this before spending materials or setting off can save a wasted trip.
