How can I get a Hand Plane?
Craft 1 Hand Plane at the Workbench with 1 Short Straight Shaft, 3 Oak Billets and 1 Iron Ingot. Use the material checklist below to plan the ingredients.
Why do Oak Billets already require a Hand Plane?
The Oak Billet recipe itself requires a Hand Plane and a Hand Saw. If you have neither a Hand Plane nor ready-made billets, collecting Oak Logs alone does not complete this crafting chain. Obtain at least 3 ready-made Oak Billets before making your first Hand Plane.
Open Oak Billet below and use its Loot sources links to check possible containers in Catacomb Ruins. These are possible sources, not guaranteed drops in every run.
If you also need to make a Hand Saw, set aside 1 more Oak Billet and 1 more Iron Ingot. Making both tools takes 4 Oak Billets, 2 Iron Ingots and 1 Short Straight Shaft in total.
What else do I need to turn logs into billets?
For example, the Oak Billet recipe produces 2 billets from 1 Oak Log and 1 Animal Fat at the Workbench, with both a Hand Plane and a Hand Saw listed as tools. Having the plane alone is not enough. The Used as tool section below also lists other wood, shield and storage recipes that require it.
