QUICK ANSWER
A key opens its marked door; it does not turn every nearby opening into an exit.
The Catacomb map links each marked key door to its key and known source leads. Exit requirements are shown separately, so first decide whether you are trying to enter a room or leave the expedition.
WHAT TO DO
Start from the door you actually need
Select the door marker on the Catacomb map and read its required key. Keep that door as the destination while inspecting sources. Searching for every key in advance consumes space and time without proving that the current route needs them.
Library Key, Ornate Storage Key and Sewer Access Key correspond to different locked areas. A key name or icon is not enough; follow the relation from the exact door marker to avoid carrying the wrong item across the map.
WHAT TO DO
Check task rewards before searching random containers
Library Key is a reward from Lost Knowledge I and Lost Knowledge II. The map also shows possible corpse-container and footlocker locations, but those random candidates may fail to appear or may contain no key.
Ornate Storage Key and Sewer Access Key have possible container sources in the current guide, while no task reward is established there. Keep the wording ‘possible’ and plan more than one source area when the key is essential.
WHAT TO DO
Prepare the Masonry rope exit before the run
The Masonry exit accepts Rope or Fine Rope. Fine Rope is listed as a reward from Strings Attached I. Its crafting method uses 8 Linen Thread and 8 Waxed Thread, but that method is not unlocked by default. The current item guide does not establish a reliable acquisition method for ordinary Rope.
Because the map cannot read your inventory, select that exit only after confirming the item in game. Current exit availability, interaction state and party-distance conditions also remain live checks.

Keep access planning and extraction planning separate
A key can shorten or enable access to a room without being required by the default supported extraction route. Conversely, an extraction item such as Fine Rope does not open Library, Ornate Storage or Sewer Access doors. Put each object beside the decision it solves.
When inspecting a possible key source, use the map’s return-to-door control to recover the original destination. If the source is random or its floor is unknown, search the named area and keep a retreat route; the dashed line only links the door and source, it is not a walking route.

Check these four things before you leave
One last check before you leave
Check inventory counts, remaining durability, learned recipes, quest progress, random spawns and whether the intended route is open. Doing this before spending materials or setting off can save a wasted trip.
